- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 cups tomato sauce
-
1/2 cup olive oil
- 1/2 cup parsley, chopped
- 1/2 cup fresh dill, chopped
- 1 tsp ground cumin
-
2 tsp salt
-
1/2 tsp. ground pepper
Directions
Remove and discard the outer layers of the cabbage. Cut and discard the core as well. Bring a pot of water to a boil and submerge the cabbage for 10 min. until the leaves are tender and easy to remove.
In a mixing bowl combine the beef, pork, rice, onion, parsley, dill, cumin, salt and pepper.
- Lay each cabbage leaf on a clean surface and fill with the minced meat mixture. Warp tightly to create rolls.
Place the olive oil in a saucepan and place the cabbage rolls seam side down in the pan in tight rows. Add the tomato sauce and enough water to cover the rolls. Place a heatproof plate on top of the rolls to keep them submerged during cooking.
- Bring to a boil and simmer for 40 min until the filling is cooked. Serve hot.
